Trauma is any event or series of events that overwhelms the mind, body or both. Without knowing about trauma counseling and its benefits, traumatic events can present in a variety of ways. Growing up in critical, neglectful, unpredictable, or alcoholic homes can often cause trauma. Others may have been in a car accident or suffered an attack and “just don’t feel right” or are experiencing guilt that doesn’t make sense.
While others have a fear of medical procedures. What is traumatic for one person may not be for another. As a result of traumatic events or early life experiences, some people develop difficulty soothing themselves, while others may develop PTSD, forms of dissociation or complex trauma. People with these difficulties need to learn about trauma counseling to help them overcome any adverse effects.
